Gathering reliable national data in Haiti, as in many fragile and complex contexts, presents significant challenges. Security conditions, difficult travel, and infrastructure constraints can make reaching communities across a country difficult.

QQ combines rigorous research methods with local knowledge and in-country capacity to navigate these realities.

Working through its in-country office in Haiti, QQ mobilized 44 Haitian research professionals to administer in-person surveys in Haitian Creole across all 10 departments of the country. Working with Chatham House, QQ supported survey development and led field preparation and data collection using standardized sampling procedures and computer-assisted personal interviewing.

Research in complex environments requires more than a strong methodology. It requires understanding the communities, adapting to conditions on the ground and earning the trust needed to gather meaningful information.

For QQ, that means working in partnership with people who live the realities being studied and who know the communities, languages and cultural context of the places where research happens. It means maintaining rigorous standards while recognizing that the same approach will not work everywhere. And it means staying closely engaged with our clients and field teams when circumstances require additional care, flexibility or problem-solving.

That approach helped make nationwide, in-person research possible in Haiti. It also reflects how QQ approaches international work, combining rigorous methods with local knowledge and on-the-ground expertise to meet the realities of each country and community.
