Marcela Gutierrez is an applied anthropologist and qualitative researcher who has worked as a program evaluator for the past 25 years. During this time she has held progressively responsible positions with non-profit and academic institutions concentrating on evaluation, program planning, capacity building, and technical assistance around impact assessment of a variety of social programs. As an evaluation generalist, Dr. Gutierrez has worked on national, local, and regional evaluations of human services, education, health, mental health, and broad community-based initiatives. Her clients have included national and local foundations, city and state governments, and non-profits.

Her professional work experience includes her current consulting practice in evaluation and program planning in the United States, teaching evaluation courses at the graduate level at the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and the University of South Florida; eight years as Program Director heading multi-site national evaluations at the OMG Center for Collaborative Learning in Philadelphia; three years as Assistant in Research Professor at the University of South Florida, as well as two years as Evaluation Coordinator for the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, Florida.
